Description
Join us on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Brown Palace Hotel as we honor leaders in the legal community and have a ball while raising money to support the vital work of The Center's Training & Legal Program. This year we celebrate 20 years of the defeat of Amendment 2 by honoring those who worked tirelessly to prevail in the pinnacle case of Romer v. Evans.
The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails and a preview of our live auction items, including vacation destinations, luxury accommodations, fine art, and tickets to cultural and sporting events. At 6:30 p.m. enjoy a seated dinner, during which time The Center will present Jean DuBofsky with our 2016 Barrister of the Year award and recognize Sue Anderson with our Visionary in Action award. Together these two amazing people defeated Colorado’s unconstitutional and discriminatory Amendment 2. Our live auction will follow.
At 8:30 p.m., enjoy a delicious dessert buffet while trying your luck with our professionally-run gaming, including blackjack, poker, craps and roulette.
Proceeds from this event support The Center's Training & Legal Program. Founded in 1992 as Colorado’s Legal Initiatives Project, The Center’s Training & Legal Program was created to oppose the anti-gay Colorado constitutional Amendment 2. The program’s mission continues to be to seek full legal and civil equality for LGBT people and those living with HIV in Colorado. As the only legal program in Colorado dedicated solely to protecting the LGBT community, The Training & Legal Program accomplishes its work primarly through our Legal Helpline, effectuating policy change, and public outreach and education statewide.
